GUNAA's 8 Weeks to GRAMBLING State Homecoming.

Sheryl Burrell-Mauwakkil shares why she is The GREATEST Fan of Grambling State University😊🎉🐯

"I Love Grambling State University!!!  My heart is fearless as a Tiger!  My Junior year in high school I selected to attend a HBCU.  1st choice Tuskegee, 2nd Jackson State, 3rd Grambling and of course, I chose the World Famed Grambling State University.  The foundation that help guide me to be the person I am today.  My 4 years at Grambling, I vowed to utilized my life experience combined with this awesome motto “Where Everybody Is Somebody” and build my career as a Social Worker.  Every person I encounter  I think about where I come from, Bogalusa, La., and what my parents endured in raising a child with limited abilities.  With prayer and aid of a Social Worker guiding my parents, I knew I had to give back.  Attending Grambling State University I met a diverse group of people with the same love for a university unlike no other as I.  Graduating in 1982 from Grambling State University was one of the saddest day of my life, but I vowed to come back to give back.  Of course I would  return every chance I get for games and various events, but I desired to come and make a bigger difference in the lives of individuals.   Through a few job changes as a Social Worker, I was a offered a promotion and job relocation opportunity to  work for an agency in Lincoln Parish  or Ouachita and of course my choice Ruston  in Lincoln Parish.  I was coming home or close to home ( Grambling State University)!!!. Coming Back to Give Back!!!  My family and friends were excited,  and once again the arms of the community of Ruston and Grambling opened theirs arms to me.  Mrs. Theresa Wyatt and Mrs. Hazel Hunter watched over me while I was attending Grambling and  upon notifying them of my return, they was just as excited.  I am the Mental Health Clinic Manager of Ruston Behavioral Health Clinic in Ruston ,La  providing service to person with Mental Illness and Addiction Disorders.  I reach out to students in every and any capacity as I can, I am a strong recruiter and as a committee member with NAMI  and servicing this community help me to continue the legacy of my awesome motto “Everybody is  Somebody”!!! I Love Grambling State University."
