GSU Athletics to Unveil Basketball Championship Banners - Join in Person on watch LIVE streaming on the GSU Channel

GRAMBLING, La. (General) – The Grambling State University Athletics Department and Office of Institutional Advancement will hold a banner unveiling on Saturday, Feb. 11. The banners will be dropped during half time of the GSU men’s basketball game against Texas Southern University. Tip off for the game will be at 5:30 p.m.

Grambling State Athletics Director Paul Bryant has made honoring the legacy of champions at the storied institution a top priority of his administration. 

“I am honored to recognize the rich history of Grambling State University,” gushed Bryant, “This area has been dormant and it’s time to show our appreciation to our former student athletes.”

The long awaited banners will feature Grambling men and women basketball teams that were Southwestern Athletic Conference regular season champions, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics / National Collegiate Athletics Association tournament appearances and national champions. They will showcase the lauded history of Grambling State basketball and give fans a look into the future of Grambling athletics. 

“It's always exciting to celebrate the past accomplishments of our athletic programs. This is just the start as we look forward to recognizing all of our past athletic accomplishments,” exclaimed  GSU Vice President for Advancement, Research & Economic Development Marc Newman.

Friends of Football generously donated the banners to help highlight the culture of being a champion that has taken GSU by storm.

Fans are encouraged to come witness the legacy of the university and legendary head coach, Fredrick C. Hobdy go on permanent display in the arena named for him.
