I was in the Multi-Million Dollar Staples Center where Millions
of FANS watched the Clippers 113 to 103 victory against the Golden State Warriors in Game 5 on April 29,
2014.
Where do I begin, how do I end. I know the middle. The FANS, staff, celebrities,
media, and League Representatives shared love and compassion for one another. Eric Kagan a Los Angeles resident said that one man brought a nation together.
As I walked through the tunnel from the basketball court to
the press area before the game, I'd received encouraging smiles, hugs, and pats
on the back. I saw the FANS rejoicing to
know they are part of history. FANS were
part of “A Celebration for Human Rights”.
I have never been in an arena where there was so much genuine
affection.
Then, I walked into the PRESS room. Anticipation filled the room of what was
going to be said by Clippers Coach GLENN, “DOC” RIVERS. If I didn't see the game
I wouldn't know that the CLIPPERS just defeated the Warriors. Doc Rivers was
filled with so many emotions. Doc Rivers
was grateful for NBA Commissioner, ADAM SILVER, decision. Doc added, “We
are in the healing stages and it is going take some time”. When he was asked how he felt about Don
Sterling’s wife attending the game with four body guards. He personalized his response by saying that
it is not Shelly’s fault (Doc called
Shelly by her name showing familiarity and respect). He added that Shelly texted him asking could
she attend the game. Doc Rivers welcomed Shelly Sterling to attend Game 5
in Los Angeles. He also shared that Shelly genuinely cares for the players and
told the press that Shelly attended the previous Warriors-Clippers game in
Oakland.
My eyes were filled with tears because I felt his PAIN. The burden
that he and his team has been carrying, along with the nation. And how despite their
GREAT victory, the Clippers were distracted with all of the recent events. As I
look at this tall man who is a millionaire we take it for granted that he too
can feel pain? Millionaires are not
above PAIN as they strive to achieve their dreams. I heard some fan say, “They are millionaires and
they will get over it.” Another fan added, “Racism exists everywhere. Most
people hide their true feelings. Don Sterling just got caught voicing his
thoughts.”
Does that make racism
ok?
Millions of people
are robbed…Does that make robbery ok?
Millions of people
are abused? Does that make abuse ok?
Does my paycheck
exempt me from racism? Does my title exempt me from racism?
Does my skin color
exempt me from racism?
Los Angeles CLIPPERS'CHRIS PAUL was filled with strength but you could feel his
pain (His MILLION DOLLAR pain). Chris expressed his gratitude for Adam. Chris Paul answered questions how he felt
since he is the NBA Association President.
Chris Paul’s direction was that he and the Clippers will move forward
without the clutter.
Chris definition of
clutter (kl t r): The clutter is anyone
telling you what they would do if they were you whether it is your cousins,
your friends, or anyone in your ear passing judgment on your life.
As he left, he walked down the aisle bypassing the VIP exit
behind him and he walked through the aisle shaking hands with the media. Not a FAN handshake, it was a HANDSHAKE of WE
ARE ONE as he said earlier in the press conference how he would describe his
feelings. He expressed not to be cliché, “WE ARE ONE”.
Los Angeles CLIPPERS' BLAKE GRIFFIN interview was upstaged by the young boy who gave him
dap before his interview. I am assuming that is his son. I couldn’t get that image out of my
head. BLAKE is tall and he is a MILLION Dollar
Man who has a MILLION Dollar PAIN. It
was a little child that gave him encouragement before he went to speak to the
press as he answered the questions before him about Don Sterling and the
Clippers victory. (Did you get that? A little
child gave this TALL MAN-BIG MAN dap displaying ''you can do this''. ''And I am right here when you are finished''. You see our encouragements can come in BIG
PACKAGES as well as small packages.)
In life, we are faced with bigotry, envy, hate, jealousy, racism
and all those negativities that plague us.
When someone does us wrong, the first thing we want to do is talk about
the person that wronged us, yell at the person, gossip about the person, and/or
laugh at the person. Anyone that carries
hate in their heart needs our prayers. They
need our Million Dollar prayer to heal their Million Dollar Pain. Katt Williams said it best, “Haters don’t
wake up saying they are going to be a haters.
It is from years of rejection, pain, insecurities, and hurt.” I am compelled when GOD says bless our
enemies. I know someone is saying, “WHAT?”
“No, I AM NOT!!!” I feel you and
I get you. When you bless your haters
with prayers, GOD will magnify your heart with compassion as he restores your
heart from the HATE of VANDALISM. Don Sterling brought a nation together in love
and compassion. The affection is
something the world needed…not the act BUT the REACTION of
genuine affection. Reverend JESSE
JACKSON was at Game 5 of the Clippers and Warriors giving his support. Media was searching in the tunnel and press
area for Reverend Jackson. They were intensely looking for him. I was so proud to see media of all races
trying very hard to find Reverend Jackson to get a quote from him on this
historical moment. I am crying again. This is not a black thing. This is a UNITY THING.
Millionaires have
MILLION Dollar PAIN
Millionaires are not
exempt from hate, envy, jealousy, or racism.
Millionaires crave
success, love, and great health.
Millionaires are in
all of us as we work toward our millions.
Millionaires
yesterday, today, and tomorrow need millions of FANS, love, and support.
So, show…
Million Dollar LOVE with a
Million Dollar HUG
as you
slam dunk a Million Dollar KISS
to
your Millionaire.
WE ARE ONE xoxo =)
