Enjoy interview with Grambling State University Athletic Director, Paul Bryant, that EMPOWERED ME and I know you will be empowered. SPEAK your VISIONS for your DREAMS.
Kingi
How did the Grambling and Adidas partnership come to
existence?
Paul Bryant, GSU
Athletic Director
Actually, it was President Rick Gallot’s vision. We feel
there is nothing too BIG or BOLD for Grambling State University. The pieces were
already in place. Pieces meaning the right people and the right work ethics. We
are beginning to tell our story. And the FANS are seeing the FRUITS of our LABOR.
Kingi
What will be Adidas presence on campus? (Rumor is there will be an Adidas store)
Paul Bryant, GSU
Athletic Director
Yes, there is. The
Adidas Store is online. The Grambling
State Barnes and Nobles book store on campus is already stocked with Adidas for FANS July
1st Kickoff. All departments
will join the fun with sporting Adidas gear.
So, look forward to seeing all student athletes, band mates, and students
wearing ADIDAS. This is a TRUE PARTNERSHIP and we are embracing everything that
comes with ADIDAS FAN SUPPORT.
Kingi
What is your favorite Adidas gear? (I hope I am not putting
you on the spot)
Paul Bryant, GSU
Athletic Director
Yes!!!!! I am proud to call OLD SHELL TOE my favorite ADIDAS
gear.
Kingi
Old Shell Toe?
Paul Bryant, GSU
Athletic Director
Yes. RUN DMC wore the OLD SHELL TOE in their videos.
Kingi
Yes, geaux Adidas!
Kingi
Congratulations on great 1.2M partnership with Adidas! As
Athletic Director, what are your future goals you have for Grambling athletics?
Paul Bryant, GSU
Athletic Director
Yes, I want to add a couple of more sports. Enhance the
non-Revenue sports. i.e. Soccer, Track, Softball, Volleyball, Tennis, and Bowling Having all of our
sports to be the top 3 in the conference at the same time. In doing so, increase our Revenue for
GRAMBLING STATE UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS TO BE SELF SUFFICIENT.
Kingi
Where are you from and how did you become an Athletic
Director?
Paul Bryant, GSU
Athletic Director
I am from Dayton, Ohio. I was a Basketball coach in Ohio.
Then, I became an Interim Athletic Director. I have been an AD at the NCAA division III, II, and I levels. After running the department and touching student’s lives, I knew this a
position I wanted to be permanent.
Instead of touching 17 to 18 male student’s lives, I am able to touch over
300 students on a DAILY BASIS.
Kingi
What advice would have for a Gramlinite?
Paul Bryant, GSU
Athletic Director
