My Essence Music Festival Flasback with Kingi Knox

My Essence Music Festival flashback. Before starting my interviews, Anita and I had just wrapped up setting up our booth for Essence Music Festival at the Louisiana Convention Center. Then, "If It Isn't Love" was playing in the background. Anita a friend of mine for over 20 years and former Southern University Lab Dancing Doll...we begin dancing reacting the dance steps from the New Edition video (reliving our childhood memories with smiles). Some New Edition fans joined in with the few steps they knew and others applauded. New Edition gave an EXCELLENT performance at Essence!

OBAMA 2012 State of the Union Address to the 1st US president to visit Puerto Rico in 50 years covered by Kingi Knox

Who are YOU when there are no cameras around?

Well there were no cameras around when President Obama visited Puerto Rico, which is a United States territory. Civilians captured the moment with elation and jubilation. President Barack Obama is the first US President to officially visit Puerto Rico in 50 years. President Obama visited Puerto Rico on June 14, 2011 and President Kennedy visited Puerto Rico on December 15, 1961.

I stayed at Marriott San Juan Resort and Stellaris Casino while I visited San Juan, Puerto Rico for my cousin’s wedding. One event took me out of the country. One event brought me to history.

Three days before my visit I heard the president was in Puerto Rico. During my stay in Puerto Rico, I heard the same song all over San Juan not knowing the name of the song. I watched Puerto Ricans singing and dancing to the song at the hotel and in the streets. Then our taxi cab driver for the weekend told me the Puerto Ricans were so elated President Obama visited their land that a song was composed to honor President Obama’s visit. The taxi cab driver told us how President Obama dined where regular people ate admiring El Morro Fort in Old San Juan. To their surprise he wasn’t with a lot of security. There were no television media as he walked the streets and genuinely talked to civilians. Meaning, the American president was so down to earth talking, walking, and eating amongst the people. That cab drive gave me and my dad a button with John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama on it that was a historical commemorative of the two presidents to officially visit Puerto Rico within 50 years.

Selfishly, I wanted to keep the Kennedy-Obama button from Puerto Rico. My dad gave it to my brother’s girlfriend, who is a teacher. She took that button and shared it with her students in Dallas, TX. Instead of me keeping the button as a keepsake, she was able to share that button to her students so they may be empowered and believe in dreams!

One trip…One wedding…One Country brought my family to HISTORY with President Barack Obama and Puerto Rico.

VOTE a MAN who is of YOU, for YOU, and with YOU!

Tuesday, January 24, 2012 President Barack Obama gave the 2012 State of the Union address in the Chamber of the United States of House Representatives. In his speech, President Barack Obama focused on education reform, repairing America’s infrastructure with money not used on Iraq war, and creating new energy sources in America.

After listening to President Obama speech, we are part of the solution. If we look past ourselves and put America first, then we can truly obtain the changes to get America back on the right track.

HBO Tuskegee Airmen opens the door for George Lucas blockbuster Red Tails $20M movie covered by Kingi Knox

“Red Tails” is an instant classic and loved by American fans! I am proud of Tuskegee Airmen and their contribution to the American history. Red Tails not only tells black history, but how men sacrificed their lives for American History. The Tuskegee Airmen where the 1st African American combat pilots in the United States, that fought in World War II.

I am proud that the original HBO’s “The Tuskegee Airmen” opened the doors for George Lucas $20 M blockbuster movie called “Red Tails”. Like Martin Luther King, Jr. opened the door to President Barack Obama.

“Red Tails” 1st weekend opened with nearly $20Million. The Red Tails cast includes Cuba Gooding, Jr., Michael B. Jordan, Elijah Kelley, and Terrance Howard. The entire cast gave a riveting performance directed in excellence cinematography.

Michael B. Jordan gave an outstanding performance portraying “Maurice ‘Bumps’ Wilson” in Red Tails. I was able to work in the “Hard Ball” movie with Michael B. and watch him give a dynamic performance playing “Clarence” opposite Keanu Reeves, along with Kris Lofton, Julian Griffith, Michael Perkins, Sterling Brim, Aaron Evans, Bryan Hearne, Brian Reed, Alexander Telles, and DeWayne Warren. Michael B. Jordan was a young talent in Hard Ball that has propelled to great success in Hollywood as an actor that the world is noticing and applauding in Red Tails.

I was able to meet Cuba Gooding, Jr. at our church called “Church on The Way”. What was amazing about Cuba was that I was driving pass him in the parking lot as I was leaving church, while he was on the phone. I quickly said, “Hi, Cuba!” He stopped. He switched the phone to his left ear while holding his bible with his left hand and extending his right hand to me and genuinely greeted me. I told him, “Keep up the awesome work and have a great day.” Cuba could have casually waved but he stopped to greet me with sincerity. Cuba performance was delivered with passion and sincerity as he played the part of “Emanuel Stance” in Red Tails.

Cuba Gooding, Jr. also played in the original HBO’s “The Tuskegee Airmen” movie opposite Laurence Fishburne, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Courtney B. Vance, Andre Braugher. Christopher McDonald, and Allen Payne. Allen Payne is someone I also met while he was filming Tyler Perry’s House of Payne. In Los Angeles, I was able to watch Allen passionately play in the NBAE (a league which is the entertainment division of the NBA). He played with competitiveness and dedication. Not accepting failure as an option, which leads me to the character Walter Peoples III acted by Allen Payne in HBO’s “The Tuskegee Airmen”. Walter People III was a Tuskegee Airmen combat pilot so dedicated to his dream that he didn’t want to return home in failure. With his personal humiliation of letting his country down and himself, he took his life when he was released from his honorable position of being a Tuskegee Airmen.

Great men prepared, practiced, and planned to work in these great movie projects to tell a great story that is part of American History.

Kingi Knox and The GREATEST Fan salutes the Tuskegee Airmen and to every solider that has fought for our country!
